Jessica was my rock, my guiding light and space holder during my pregnancy, birth and beyond. She helped me navigate through my birthing options, when all I knew I wanted a midwife and a natural birth. At that time I did not even know that most hospitals don’t even have midwifes. She directed me towards South Coast Midwifery, which was - besides having Jessica as my doula - the best decision for our family. During pregnancy she introduced me to cloth diapering, babywearing, how to prepare for postpartum care and Southern California’s Natural Parenting resources. Jessica was there for me for all stages of this emotional rite of passage transforming into motherhood.

Jessica appeared into our lives truly as an angel mother. We met a couple weeks before my due date but it felt like she had been there for us for our entire pregnancy. Meeting her was such a blessing that infused my transition into motherhood with such grace, strength, and comfort. She supported my desire for a natural birth by providing us with binders full of hypno babies meditations and CDs, birthing books, her open heart and a secure, trusting faith that everything would be ok. I felt so loved, acknowledged and understood by her as I always felt like she listened to and addressed my fears about birth and becoming a mother. Within one hour of knowing her I felt like I could trust her in supporting us with the huge change of having a child. Knowing that she was behind me, believing in me, and supporting me in my desire for a natural birth empowered me and comforted me in the most subtle yet profound ways. I could feel her holding us through the entire experience.
A couple of days after my daughter was born, she came to visit to check in. She brought my partner and I a warm cooked meal, lactation cookies, healthy snacks, and a congratulations gift. She spent over two hours in our home talking with us in a dimly lit room with my newborn resting on my chest. She wanted to ensure that I felt comfortable breastfeeding and answered any questions I had. She continued to check in on me through texts and always responds thoroughly and whole heartedly. I felt so nurtured, safe and supported by her warm presence. You can feel the sincerity in her heart from the way she generously gives her love and attention. Her passion for supporting woman into motherhood and her profound duty to the safety and well-being of children is deeply imprinted in her love and dedication to the families that she serves.
Jessica embodies such a beautiful, gentle, motherly presence that soothes the soul. To this day, she continues to serve as a loving presence in my family’s life by extending her wisdom, compassion, and guidance in times of need. I am forever grateful for her light that inspires me to be the loving, strong mother inside of me.
